As a seasoned professional in network architecture and design, we are looking for a dedicated Network Architect to join our team at Essity AB. In this key role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our global network infrastructure, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic decisions and develop cutting-edge solutions.

About the Team and the Organization

Our Network & Security Platform team is comprised of experts who design, implement, and manage all core network services and Network Architecture & Design globally. This includes focus areas such as Data Center Network, Campus Network, Network Security, Network Interconnectivity, and cross-platform automation and development.

We continuously strive to stay ahead of the curve by adopting the latest technologies and maintaining robust standardization across our network.

About the Role

In this critical position, you will contribute to strategic evaluations, decisions, and designs affecting all campus-related matters. Your expertise will also be instrumental in ensuring network security and compliance with industry standards.

This role requires a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale campus networks and wireless infrastructures. Collaboration with external business stakeholders and internal IT Infrastructure teams is essential for success in this position.

This hybrid role is based at our office in Mölndal, Sweden and reports directly to the IT Manager of the Network & Security Platform Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive campus network designs, encompassing both wired and wireless networks.
  • Pursue strategic evaluations and make informed decisions concerning campus-related matters.
  • Guarantee adherence to industry standards and best practices for network security and compliance.
  • Sustain high levels of standardization to facilitate seamless collaboration with external implementation teams.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of network services by collaborating with IT teams.
  • Deliver expert guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay abreast of emerging networking technologies and trends.
  • Effectively communicate network plans and designs to senior management.
  • Oversee the entire network implementation process, including budgeting and roadmapping.
  • Implement cutting-edge network and security strategies adhering to industry best practices.
  • Establish benchmarks for network performance and efficiency.
  • Offer specialized expertise to support operational teams in resolving complex network issues.
  • Engage actively in cross-functional meetings to gather insights on data, business, and user requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated attention to detail to ensure meticulous and accurate network designs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective collaboration among IT professionals.
  • Proven leadership abilities to guide junior engineers and oversee the network implementation process.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to facilitate high-level meetings and presentations.
  • Aptitude to thrive in an international and dynamic work environment.

Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • No less than 15 years of experience in network engineering, focusing on campus networking and wireless technologies.
  • Desirable certifications: CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent Technical Skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VXLAN-EVPN, and Wi-Fi related radio technologies.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing routers and switches from prominent vendors, including management umbrellas.
  • Comprehensive understanding of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network access control.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless technologies and standards, including Wi-Fi 6 and WPA3.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing large-scale campus networks and wireless infrastructures.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash for network automation.
  • Insight into software-defined networks (e.g., VMware NSX, Cisco ACI) and network virtualization technologies.
  • Proven experience in creating and executing redundant network solutions and disaster recovery plans.
  • Preferred experience with Wireless Technologies and Vendors:
  • Previous experience working with Cisco Classic, Juniper Mist, Aruba, and Meraki networks for wireless solutions.
  • Familiarity with Ruckus Wireless for high-density environments.
  • Understanding of Operational Technology (OT) environments and the Purdue model.
  • Knowledge of Ekahau or AirMagnet for wireless site surveys and planning.
  • Proficiency in using tools like NetSpot for wireless network analysis.
