In this role, you will be a part of the Preclinical Research team in the unit, Global Rare Diseases (GRD) in Chiesi and join a great team with competent and dedicated colleagues working in discovery projects within the field of rare diseases.

One focus disease area is lysosomal storage disorders where Chiesi develops therapies for enzyme replacement therapies.

This is a 12-month position, and you will be hired by QRIOS Life Science and work on-site at Chiesi, based at Campus Solna in Stockholm.

Responsibilities
In this role the main responsibility will be to perform disease model phenotyping in primary tissues and cells utilizing IHC and ICC, including picture analyses and statistics.

Supporting the team with setting up contracts with contract research labs (CROs), handling shipments of animals, tissues and drug products to service providers and research collaborators, as well as other administrative tasks, will be an important part of your role.

Additionally, you may be involved in designing and conducting vitro assays, such as cell-based assays, biochemical assays, and enzymatic activity assays, to evaluate efficacy of drug candidates.

You will utilize routine laboratory techniques, including IHC, ICC, cell culture, ELISA, qPCR, and Western blotting.
Analyzing experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and presenting your findings during team meetings will be a critical part of your duties.

Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records in compliance with standard protocols is essential.
You will troubleshoot technical challenges and optimize assay protocols as needed.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is crucial to achieve project goals. You will also contribute to written reports, including study summaries, protocols, and presentations.

Your profile
- The right candidate has a BSc or MSc or PhD in relevant scientific discipline.
- You have experience from working in academic labs and/or in the industrial setting.

Laboratory experiences sought for:
Experience with Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Experience with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., confocal microscopy, slide scanning).
Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Microsoft Excel, ImageJ).
Experience with cell culture techniques and culture of primary or immortalized cell lines.

Interpersonal skills sought for:
Strong organizational skills (i.e., ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain detailed records to ensure smooth workflows and adherence to deadlines) and documentation skills (i.e., attention to details, problem-solving attitude, great communication skills).
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

It is meritorious if you have:
Experience from CNS research and the field of rare diseases is an advantage.
Planning and execution of in vivo studies
Handling and differentiation of iPSCs
Awareness of drug discovery pipelines and preclinical research workflows.

To be successful in this role you have a genuine scientific interest, strong interpersonal skills and you are used to work in a “collaborative mode” in multi-disciplinary and multi-nationally project teams. You have good communication skills and the ability to share your results, experiences and knowledge in meetings with internal and external partners.

You are analytical, organized, and thorough and it is important that you are results driven and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Being able to handle multiple tasks independently and managing priorities in order to meet project timelines are important skill sets for this position. Fluent English both speaking and in writing is required.
