You now have a great opportunity to join the Special Vehicles Engineering Team, which is dedicated to developing low volume solutions and specific customized offers for Volvo Trucks Heavy Duty ranges (FH, FM, FMX). We take an active part in making Volvo Trucks the world leader in sustainable transport solutions and we need you to join our team and contribute to our challenging assignments.

We work with low volume development tasks from first sketch to full industrialization, but also with development of demo-trucks and staggered introduction of new technologies such as e-mobility, alternative fuels, automation, and connectivity. In addition, we develop specific solutions for Volvo Defense providing transport solutions for military & civil defense operations.

Who are you?

The Lead Chief Project Manager is a challenging position in charge of securing the cross-functional deliveries for complex projects. A key to success is a strong internal cooperation with the Engineering functions, Group Truck Operations (GTO), Group Truck Purchasing (GTP), and Volvo Trucks brand.

We are looking for an experienced project manager with excellent stakeholder skills, efficient communication, and a broad internal network who can bring people together. Project prerequisites are not all set from the beginning, and rather than spending time waiting for a complete plan, you act. You don’t only listen to the voice of the customer; you rather have a good dialogue with the customer to be able to focus on what matters.

Other key qualifications and competencies for the position:

1. Broad technical knowledge across multiple domains within the transportation industry.
2. Proven experience in managing complex, cross-functional projects with excellent results.
3. Strong ability to build and lead high-performing, diverse teams to achieve shared goals.
4. Skilled at turning complex and extensive information into actionable insights.
5. Effective communication and stakeholder management, with a talent for bringing people together and fostering collaboration.
6. Confident in addressing and resolving challenging issues, speaking up when necessary.
7. Experience in balancing and managing risks effectively in dynamic project environments.
8. A Master of Science degree or equivalent university qualification; PMP certification is a plus.
9. Extensive experience in project management, ideally within the transportation sector.
10. Prior experience in the defense/military sector, particularly with tender/offer business and military requirements, is advantageous.

You will be part of a team of Chief Project Managers and Vehicle Architects for the Special Vehicles products and projects. As a core member of our team, we offer you to work in a collaborative atmosphere and a culture of can-do attitude.

Distinct responsibilities include:

1. Leading cross-functional Volvo project team to deliver according to commitments.
2. Reporting in Volvo governance up to executive management and leading alignment with all involved Volvo functions.
