Stockholm, Sweden KTH - Royal Institute of Technology Full time

School of Engineering Sciences at KTH Project Third-cycle subject: Engineering Mechanics

The PhD candidates will join the biomechanics research group at KTH MoveAbility . Our research focuses on technology to decode, measure and enhance human movements, particularly in people with motor disabilities. The KTH MoveAbility research group is part of the Department of Engineering Mechanics. The Promobilia MoveAbility Lab is a well-equipped experimental research infrastructure, centrally located on KTH’s campus, and in close collaboration with an interdisciplinary network of clinical and technical researchers and healthcare professionals.  The growing group is multicultural and multidisciplinary.

The doctoral position is financed by Stiftelsen Promobilia, and focuses on motor performance in people with motor impairments after neurological or muscle diseases. You will measure, analyze and model movements, via data from experiments on people with and without disabilities, in the lab and outside using wearable sensors, and via biomechanical simulations and data-driven methods. The goals are to identify movement abnormalities and their connection to physical symptoms.
