Sverige, Sweden Northvolt AB Full time

Northvolt has an exciting job opening for an Engineer with experience in the field of Material Flow Automation (e.g., Automatic Storage and Retrieval Systems, Production-Buffers, Robots, AGVs, etc.) for the Drei Factory. By accepting this mission, you will take a key role in shaping Northolt’s Giga Factory in Heide to produce the worlds greenest battery cells. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation and material flow solutions in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

About the job

You will join a team of skilled individuals, who are equally excited about implementing Northvolt’s ambitious plans to rapidly deploy a highly efficient world class gigafactory in Heide. This is your unique opportunity to focus on the next generation material flow equipment following its life cycle from detail design and development to installation and commissioning until start of production and even beyond. Your journey includes strong collaboration with the cross functional factory design team in Stockholm and engineers in Skelleftea, Sweden, including times of further improving your skills and competences in these locations.

You have solid professional work experience as industrial engineer/project engineer/process engineer/production engineer or similar. Your passion for technical project management makes you a pivotal driver in design, commissioning and ramp up of material flow equipment. In complex automation projects, your bold, calculated decisions ensure compliance with Northvolt's visionary expansion plans in Heide.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Shape the future of material handling in the battery manufacturing environment by interacting with key automation solution suppliers in an international setting.
  • Coordinate and execute the detail design and commissioning work of the equipment together with the suppliers and with other Northvolt departments (e.g. Construction, Process, Purchasing, Digitization, Manufacturing).
  • Collaborate with the Automation and Controls Team to implement the material flow system design into functions in the WMS/WCS/ MES.
  • Create the basic operational standards required to hand-over the engineering project to the manufacturing team.

The person we are looking for is goal-oriented, passionate and structured. You thrive by technically leading others and work towards common goals. You are used to a high-paced work environment and have good time management skills together with high self-discipline and motivation to make things better by always questioning status-quo. You will get the chance to have a real impact on our success story in Germany (to start with) and see the results of your work.
