In this role you will be part of the Ports business line within the Marine and Ports division that is specialized in advanced automation and information systems for all types of container and bulk cargo handling cranes, as well as OCR and electrical systems for container terminals. We offer an international and dynamic working environment where our business delivers advanced technology in large projects across the world in a customer-oriented and highly globalized industry.
Your department is responsible for the development of our sensor systems applications for ship to shore cranes and stacking cranes. The department is developing advanced sensor systems based on lidar, camera and laser. ABB Ports sensor technology is advanced and similar to autonomous automotive applications within perception, vision, machine learning, SLAM, ROS2, sensor system calibration and embedded systems. The development is normally performed in close cooperation with customers, and our R&D engineers often go to site for test and verifications.
The department has around 40% work in customer delivery projects and 60% in R&D and product maintenance. This role reports to the Technology Manager.
Your responsibilities in the role include:
- Lead a department of 15 skilled Software application engineers.
- The department's work in agile ways of working in sprints with 2 team leads.
- Development of our world leading sensor system for crane automation.
- Develop test and verification methods for our sensor systems.
- Manage and ensure department spending is in line with agreed budget.
- Keep developing the department's fantastic engineers in a direction that supports ABB Ports long term strategy in your area.
- You lead the department to a structured development process, requirements management, a secure software development lifecycle and a structured fault-finding process.
- Being a member of the Technology management team.
You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or relevant field together with a few years of experience as a Software Developer. Experience from team lead or line manager role is valuable. Experience from leading agile teams is beneficial. Experience in software development within automation area (PLC, embedded) is preferred. Experience from customer projects organization is beneficial. Work with functional safety is valuable. Knowledge in ROS2, embedded systems, Linux, machine learning, vision and perception are beneficial. Since you will work in a global company, you need to master English in both speech and writing; Swedish language skills are meriting.
