Engineering Manager (AI/ML)

As an Engineering Manager in Candy Crush, you will play a pivotal role in driving both the technical excellence of our products and the professional growth of our engineering talent. You will be in the midst of King's efforts to leverage AI/ML, working with other industry leaders within the field to help shape how we apply these technologies to create amazing player experiences

In this role, you will lead Data Scientists, ML Engineers and related competencies within the Curated Experience pillar in Candy Crush Saga. Our mission is to deliver the right experience to the right player at the right time, ensuring that the player experience is both relevant and fun. Collaborating with the rest of the leadership team and your multi-functional peers, you will help translate our strategic plan into high quality delivery plans that enables us to fulfill our mission. You will help evolve the engineering organization to efficiently implement the strategy, while also attracting and retaining top talent. Additionally, you will drive talent initiatives and process improvements that contribute to the overall success of the engineering organization in both Candy Crush and King.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage efficient throughput of workstreams and individuals and champion a culture of continuous improvement
  • Help translate product strategy into clear delivery plans and define ways of working
  • Collaborate with partners such as the ML platform teams to ensure development of technical solutions that allow running of ML models in production at scale.
  • Lead, develop, mentor, and grow a team of data scientists and ML Engineers, taking complete ownership of the employee lifecycle and drive all people related processes
  • Build, maintain and nurture relationships between teams in Candy and other parts of King
  • Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to ensure your teams have the right tools, skills, and processes
  • Support the engineering organization in driving the continuous improvement of all talent related processes and contribute to strategic areas of improvement related to our talent
  • Overseeing the technical quality of work produced by the team, including architecture, design, coding standards, and review processes.
  • Guiding the technical direction and strategy for projects, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and standards.

  • Extensive experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence, including hands-on experience with building and deploying ML models in production environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply ML solutions to solve product problems leading to tangible business value and improved user experiences.
  • Experienced leader with a passion for developing others
  • Background in data science/ML engineering
  • Experience building happy and impactful teams
  • Solid knowledge of modern software delivery techniques
  • Proven teamwork and collaborator management skills
  • Great communication, coaching, and feedback skills
  • Strong business sense, with the ability to understand the business dimension and think strategically from all collaborator perspectives.
