Business Sweden, The Swedish Trade & Invest Council, is seeking a highly motivated and result-oriented Senior Project Manager (in Management /Strategy Consulting) who is eager to be part of our talented team in Abidjan, Casablanca or Lagos as part of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. As a team we advise both Large- & Mid-sized companies as well as Start-ups on how to capture the growth opportunities in North & West Africa, working closely with other offices on the African continent.

Sweden's trade future is increasingly tied to the Middle East and Africa (MEA), a region that represent some of the world's fastest growing economies. There is a wealth of opportunities particularly connected to the green transition, where Swedish expertise is highly sought-after. The average growth in the region is more than three percent, with several areas still dependent on foreign aid. That is why this region in many aspects will be in the center of the policy development bringing aid and development measures closer to trade promotion. Business Sweden has been present in Morocco since 2008 and our team offers strategic advice and operational support that helps Swedish companies to expand and grow their business in the North & West Africa region.

As a Senior Project Manager your main work focus is to drive sales, lead teams and work closely with our clients in Morocco and the broader North & West African region. Furthermore, you will be responsible for building strong client relationships, design and drive analytical work, secure that insights and recommendations are well underpinned and packaged in an easy to understand and concrete manner. Scoping and selling projects consultancy projects and services to our clients will also be a fundamental part of the work. You will proactively find new business opportunities and drive the insight selling in the region for clients, as well as having an active role in developing our value propositions.

Since Business Sweden has been assigned the task of identifying and promoting synergies between trade and development corporation, there will also be a strong focus for you to liaise with Swedish public agencies and ministries including SIDA, local embassies, local governmental agencies, Academias for example in projects related to trade and development cooperation. We also work closely with supporting Swedish companies in collaborating with multilateral development banks (World Bank, African Development Bank, EIB and EBRD).

Might require regular travels to and/ or coordination with public stakeholders in West Africa, such as public decision-makers and agency directors, in promoting Swedish solutions for mega-deals and public procurements. You will also be part of strategic engagements aiming at developing and promoting high-level trade relations between Sweden and key markets in the region.

You report to the Trade Commissioner/Country Manager and the position is flexible to based in Abidjan, Cote d ́Ivoire, Casablanca, Morocco OR Lagos, Nigeria with mobility potentials.

Business Sweden has more than 40 offices spanning over 37 countries and offers a dynamic work environment. The global presence opens doors for cross-staffing projects, fostering collaboration with a diverse range of colleagues and exposure to a multitude of international markets. We also work as one Middle East & Africa team with offices in 5 locations, meaning we work with colleagues & projects across the continent.

Who we are looking for:

  • A higher academic degree (Master of Science, Business Administration or equivalent)
  • Experience as Senior Management Consultant from Strategy or Management firms
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, and we value experience from Business Sweden and Team Sweden where you have preferably led both promotion activities as well as advisory projects.
  • You already have professional experience in the West African region, e.g. through working experience from a consulting or business development role.
  • You have experience of leading and coaching consultant teams and prior experience from an international environment, proven track record of successfully leading multinational project teams and working cross-border.
  • Proven track record in sales and the ability to independently drive client dialogues, and take on full sales cycle responsibility, is a must. An entrepreneurial mindset, ability to work proactively and independently with relevant goals and tasks towards growing the region
  • A high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English is a requirement.
  • Spoken & written French + any other local language from the region is a plus
  • Experience from relevant industries like energy and transport. Health/ Life Science a plus

  • Strategic mind-set and business acumen will be of great value, alongside with your passion for in-depth analysis and constant drive to go after new market opportunities.
