Automated driving systems (ADS) are paving the way for safer roads, and we are leading the charge in this revolution. Perception models are at the core of ADS operation, acting as the 'eyes and ears' of autonomous vehicles. We are searching for a postdoc to spearhead the development of efficient and accurate perception models that seamlessly integrate with stochastic optimal control for use in virtual safety assessment.

  • Project Description: This position involves extensive collaboration within the organization, particularly with the Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science and Engineering departments.

In the Vehicle Safety Division, we conduct research on human factors and engineering to enhance safety, find solutions, and evaluate their impact. Specifically, in virtual safety assessment, we focus on improving the efficiency and accuracy of safety assessments.

In the Systems and Control Division of the Electrical Engineering department, we concentrate on modeling and optimizing problems in robotics, electromobility, and autonomous driving. Similarly, the postdoc role emphasizes enhancing simulation efficiency.

Perception systems play a critical role in automated driving by enabling vehicles to perceive surroundings, localize vehicles, and facilitate decision-making processes. Developing accurate perception technology remains a significant challenge in automated driving, necessitating further research.

  • Major Responsibilities: Conduct research on sensor perception modeling, publish high-quality papers, present at international conferences, and collaborate across departments and organizations

You will also engage in teaching activities related to the project's area and collaborate with academia and society at large.

  • Qualifications:
    • A mandatory PhD degree in a relevant field
    • Extensive programming experience (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++)
    • Excellent English writing and oral communication skills
    • Comfortable with international project collaborations
    • Demonstrated potential in research and education

Experience with sensor modeling, vehicle dynamics, sensor data, or pre-crash virtual safety assessment is highly beneficial.

Applicants for the postdoc position must have received their doctoral degree within the past three years. Knowledge of Swedish is not required, as language courses are available.
