For our client, Grade, we are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Accounting to lead their finance team. The Head of Accounting will play a pivotal role in overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic guidance to support our company's growth objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls while driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. You will report to CFO and be placed at their headquarters in Stockholm or in Lund.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and forecasts in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead group consolidation for all countries.
  • Develop, structure and maintain finance department to become an efficient department as well as with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and strategic planning efforts.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay current on accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Lead and develop accounting team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounting leadership roles, with a minimum of at least 10 years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with e.g. Younium, Fortnox, PowerOffice and Netviser is a plus.
  • Experience of well functioned and efficient finance department
  • Experience of SaaS companies and the characteristics of tech companies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English.
