General characteristics:

The business-driven process accountant performs a full range of operational accounting related activities. The role is characterized by solid accounting knowledge and thorough understanding of the processes and corresponding systems. The process accountant has the ability to handle most regular issues independently but could use specific guidance on certain topics from Legal Entity responsible and Accounting Specialist.

Processes in scope:

  • General ledger and closing
  • Accounting for HR topics
  • Fixed assets
  • Transaction processes: accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking & payments

The process accountant is working in one or several processes and is able to perform activities in all companies in the Nordics independently of the segment. The core competence lays in being specialist in the assigned process / processes and related activities. The process driver role (one for each process) actively identifies and drives process improvement and simplification with relevant stakeholders and actively promotes “one-way-of working”.

Main areas of responsibilities:

  • Manage regular accounting activities in the corresponding processes in order to assure accurate and timely reporting of the financial statements
  • Owner of the chart of accounts manual including handling of general accounting questions coming from legal entities
  • Owner of the management and coordination of the closing schedule and corresponding instructions
  • Run regular periodic closing activities in close cooperation with the legal entity responsible and clients Business Services
  • Elaborate annual reports and other regulatory reports
  • Handle mergers, closures and acquisitions from an administrative and system perspective
  • Manage set up of companies in the ERP system (SAP)
  • Manage and maintain the ERP master data and authorizations
  • Manage regular activities in the fixed asset process:
  1. stakeholder and counterpart to asset requesters in legal entity
  2. review and manage asset requests
  3. monitor assigned depreciation periods
  4. follow up on projects in progress (from the accounting perspective)
  5. reconciliation and control of asset related accounts
  • Gatekeeper for process related challenges arising in the legal entities and interfacing with relevant parties (Clients Business Services, Tax, HR and Customer support)

Process Driver role :

  • Interface and monitor EBS performance and attend regular service meetings
  • Actively identify and drive process improvements and simplifications
  • Actively promote “one-way-of working” throughout the scope of legal entities
  • Perform regular lessons learnt assessments
  • Create and update instructions, process documentation and internal controls
  • Mandate to implement changes after corresponding approval
  • Single point of contact (SPOC) in terms of process improvements driven by Global Accounting, Legal Entity functions and clients Business Services.

Professional Requirements:

  • Solid accounting knowledge and experience
  • Good understanding of the clients business model and related accounting topics
  • Excellent knowledge of the clients accounting related systems and tools
  • Good analytical skills and excellent organizational capabilities
  • Excellent capabilities in finding new and common ways of working
  • Excellent process knowledge and understanding of connections to internal controls and risks
  • Very good coordination and communication skills and compliance oriented approach

Level of Supervision:

The role holder is capable of handle most regular assigned activities and issues independently with low or no need for additional review for accuracy. The role holder is required to organize and distribute the activities, set correct priorities and achieve deadlines, with low or no need for supervision.
