Underwriter, Commercial Insurance to Zurich Nordic

Zurich is one of the most specialized insurance companies within non-life insurance for local and international business in the Nordic market. We are now looking for a business driven and customer orientated person to join our team as Underwriter within commercial.

Job Description

In the role of Underwriter, you will work on pricing and risk assessment of risks primarily within business insurance, Koff. You contribute to profitable business by ensuring optimal insurance solutions for both the customer and the company. You are involved in internal training within the risk area, insurance products, and work closely with our Junior Underwriters, acting as a mentor and providing support in their work. As a underwriter you’ll have the mandate to write complex risks and high loss limit. You’ll also have the authority to delegate simpler risks to junior underwriters and assisting them and help them grow in their role.

The job involves working with brokered business for both existing and new customers. You have ongoing contact with brokers and contribute to building good relationships with various brokerage firms. Other tasks include working with our products, analyzing new submissions, and participating in the development of Zurich as the leading insurance company in the Nordic region. You will also be involved in the work related to our risk selection criteria. You will be reporting to the Head of Underwriting Middle Market.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is business-minded and has a strong analytical ability to understand business risks and complex insurance needs. You are self-driven and organized in your work, and can explain complicated matters in a simple and clear manner. You are pedagogical and open to helping where needed. Personality-wise, you are also trustworthy and have a strong ability to collaborate, both internally and externally. You have a positive and open attitude that creates a good working environment.

To succeed in this role, you need to have a good knowledge of commercial insurance, including terms, pricing, and regulations. You have a relevant academic degree or equivalent experience and have worked in the insurance industry for a several years.

Qualifications:

Several years of professional experience within the Insurance Industry Extensive experience in property underwriting is preferred Extensive experience of risk analysis and selection, pricing for new business and renewals  Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, economics, or a related field is preferred. Prior leadership experience Solid verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English is a requirement 

Skills and competencies:

Excellent knowledge from commercial insurance Proven knowledge of product development Strong data processing and analytical skills High level of risk- and business awareness  Great communication and negotiation skills Excellent customer and broker relationship skills Ability to handle multiple priorities and change
