Database Consultant

The team, position & mission:

Orange Business is seeking a skilled Database Consultant to join the Linux Team in our Database department The Database department oversees database operations across a wide range of technologies, including MySQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, and more. The role we’re looking for will primarily focus on MongoDB, but also includes MySQL and MariaDB.

As a Database Consultant in the Linux Database team, you will play a key role in daily operations, providing expert database support to both internal and external customers. You will ensure that activities align with relevant service level agreements while offering consulting services as needed. Your core responsibilities will include monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, and performance tuning of databases. You will also contribute to tasks such as installation and configuration, backup and recovery, lifecycle management, and automation. In addition to working with MongoDB, you will gain hands-on experience with MySQL and MariaDB.

Collaboration is central to our team’s success, but we are also looking for someone who can take initiative and handle tasks independently. Your key areas of responsibility as Database Consultant:

Prioritize, diagnose, and solve incidents according to agreed procedures.
Take responsibility for problem resolution, recommend options, and implement if required.
Review, assess, and implement customer change requests.
Plan, assess, and execute maintenance tasks on the production platform.
Collaborate closely with customers and internal technical teams
Follow up on lifecycle management on database services.
Perform health checks and proactive services.
Attend and contribute to internal and external projects.
Application automation & standardization of workload.
Monitor and address vulnerability issues (CVE’s), ensuring patches are applied promptly when available.
Keep technical teams informed of new database application versions and updates.
Manage internal communication channels, providing prompt responses and technical support to colleagues across multiple departments.

As an ideal candidate you have: 

At least 2 years’ experience from a relevant position within the IT industry.
Good knowledge and interest in working with database technologies.
Solid knowledge of Linux environments.
Experience working with security management and compliance.
Knowledge of document and/or relational databases is a strong advantage

Communication skills in Norwegian/Swedish is a plus, but not required.
