Trademark Counsel & Legal Engineer Practise trademark law. Build how trademark law gets delivered.

Location:
Stockholm / hybrid Reports to: CEO Most trademark lawyers are asked to work inside systems designed by someone else. At Digip, you will help design them. About Digip Digip is a global AI-native trademark law firm founded in Stockholm in 2019. We have built our own systems for trademark search, prosecution, portfolio management, monitoring and client delivery. This allows our lawyers to spend less time administering legal work and more time applying judgment, advising clients and improving how the work gets done. We are now looking for a trademark lawyer who can operate across both sides of that model: independently practising trademark law while helping build the systems through which it is delivered. The role You will take ownership of an established international trademark docket and its client relationships. You will advise clients directly, act as a go-to legal adviser to key accounts and manage international matters through our network of local counsel. You will also support our sales team as legal lead on selected new-business opportunities—joining prospect discussions, understanding the legal need and helping shape the proposed solution. Alongside the legal practice, you will work directly with the CEO, senior legal team, product and engineering to improve Digip’s legal delivery. That could mean redesigning an inefficient workflow, deciding what data a process should capture, identifying what can be automated, prototyping a lightweight internal tool or helping engineering turn legal judgment into a product decision. The expectation is not that you become a software developer. It is that you can move beyond identifying a problem and help take the solution towards something that works. What you will own Trademark clearance and availability assessments. Filing, prosecution, office actions and oppositions. Advice on trademark protection, filing strategy and portfolio decisions. Day-to-day relationships with key existing clients. International portfolio management and coordination of local counsel. Renewals, watch-report analysis and portfolio maintenance. Legal leadership in selected new-business opportunities. Improvements to legal workflows, data and client delivery. Regular delivery of tools, automations or process improvements with measurable results. You will operate with substantial autonomy while working closely with Digip’s senior legal team on matters requiring formal sign-off or escalation. Who we are looking for You are a qualified lawyer or trademark attorney with the judgment to run trademark matters independently. You have practical experience in clearance, prosecution, oppositions, portfolio management and international counsel coordination. You are comfortable becoming the direct adviser to clients rather than working behind someone more senior. You communicate clearly and commercially. You can turn legal complexity into a recommendation that helps a client—or a prospective client—make a decision. You also have genuine technical agency. When a process is inefficient, you instinctively want to understand how it works, break it into its underlying data and decision logic, and improve it. Perhaps you have already built an internal workflow, automation, bot, prototype or small application. Perhaps you have used tools such as Make, n8n, Retool, Cursor, Claude, Lovable or something similar. The particular stack is not important; the behaviour is. You understand where AI and automation can improve legal delivery, where controls are needed and where human legal judgment must remain in the loop. We are deliberately not setting an arbitrary minimum number of years. Competence matters more than tenure. Professional fluency in English is required. Swedish is useful but not essential. What success looks like Within your first 90 days, you will have: Taken ownership of an established trademark docket and its client relationships. Become a trusted go-to legal adviser to key existing clients. Supported the sales team as legal lead on selected new-business opportunities. Materially shaped a product or engineering decision concerning a real legal workflow. Shipped a tool, automation or workflow improvement with a measurable effect. Why Digip This role is for someone who wants to remain a real practising trademark lawyer but does not want their contribution to technology to end with submitting feature requests. At Digip, you can move from a client conversation to a legal strategy decision and then into a discussion about how the underlying workflow should be built. You do not have to choose between practising law and improving the machinery through which law is delivered. If that combination sounds unusually close to how you already think, we would like to hear from you. When applying, tell us about the trademark work you have personally owned—and something you have built, automated or materially improved.
