Professional Galaxy is looking for a
Senior Data Engineer SAP
for one of our clients, who is passionate about building scalable analytical solutions across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and SAP Datasphere. This role combines deep expertise in SAP data with modern cloud engineering practices, enabling the company to maximize the value of its data assets for business and customer impact.

You will:

  • Take end-to-end responsibility for building, optimizing, and supporting new and existing data products aligned with our target vision.
  • Champion DevOps principles, managing CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and cloud infrastructure primarily on GCP.
  • Deploy analytical features across SAP Datasphere, while integrating with GCP-native tools such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and DBT.
  • Ensure data products meet non-functional requirements for security, scalability, observability, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, stakeholders, and cross-domain product teams to support data mesh concepts and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Coach and mentor other engineers, lead programming sessions, and present solutions to complex problems with a wide perspective on engineering practices.
  • This dual role offers a unique opportunity to combine cloud-native engineering on GCP with SAP Datasphere expertise with, while working in a highly agile and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize data pipelines and products across GCP.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and GCP infrastructure.
  • Integrate SAP data sources (ECC, CAR, EWM, General Ledger, Billing, Inventory, POS) into cloud-native solutions.
  • Model and provision data using CDS Views and Datasphere.
  • Ensure compliance with standards for security, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborate on data mesh initiatives across product teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and reduce technical debt.
  • Facilitate Scrum events and coach teams in Agile practices.

Qualifications
Core Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, including full lifecycle implementations.
  • Expertise in GCP tools: BigQuery, Dataflow, DBT.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP Retail scenarios (ECC, CAR, EWM).
  • Experience with frontend analytics: PowerBI.
  • Proficiency in data formats (Avro, Parquet) and query languages (SQL).
  • Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with NoSQL and RDBMS databases.
  • Strong background in data volume management and large-scale data projects.
  • Experience in Integrated Planning/BPC.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP data analytics and modern engineering practices.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; fluent in English (Swedish is a plus). Preferred
  • Business understanding of the retail industry.
  • Experience with Agile frameworks and supporting tools.
  • Scrum Master experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to code solutions in complex situations.
