The Car Cloud Platform organization, within Connected Vehicle Solution, develops and maintains cloud services globally to contribute to the overall connected experience for our customers. They build, provide and operate a highly secure run-time ecosystem for functions and applications serving our millions of connected cars and their users. They aim to optimize functional and organic growth by using standard cloud technologies with high level of synergies and re-use. With their car cloud solution, they provide cloud infrastructure, platform core & services to support software development lifecycle by providing tools for fast feedback & built-in quality.

What You'll Do

You'll be part of an empowered agile DevOps team developing backend services. Together, you'll define, build, test, deploy, maintain, and operate secure applications — while continuously learning, improving, and delivering value.

You'll collaborate closely with your Product Owner to ensure the right functionality is developed and help estimate the size and complexity of upcoming work to support effective sprint planning. You'll also take ownership of the technical design within your area, ensuring it aligns with our architectural guidelines and supports long-term scalability and maintainability.

In this role, you'll work with modern development tools, a microservice-oriented architecture and emerging technologies. You'll have daily opportunities to learn from your peers, shape how we work, and contribute to building innovative, high-impact solutions.

Your team is based in our Lindholmen office, working closely together on-site in line with Volvo's directives. At the same time, our organization spans the globe — with teams and colleagues in Gothenburg, Lund, Europe, the US, and China — offering daily opportunities for international collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Do You Fit the Profile

To thrive in this role, you need solid experience — at least five years — in Java development, along with a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field. You should be confident working with backend technologies and have a strong grasp of the Spring Framework, DevOps practices, test automation, and system monitoring.

Proficiency in tools and platforms such as Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and REST/gRPC is important, and experience handling car-related data — whether it's connected to the cloud, vehicles, mobile apps, or external partners — will be a strong advantage.

A deep understanding of agile methodologies like Scaled Agile, Scrum, Lean, or Kanban is essential, as is prior experience working in cross-functional product teams. Fluency in English is required to navigate our global environment effectively.

You should be genuinely passionate about product development, enjoy working in collaborative environments, and be committed to continuous learning. You bring a structured and thoughtful approach to decision-making—proactively requesting clarification and ensuring requirements are well-defined before committing to action. You avoid assumptions and promote alignment across teams.
