As PayPal continues its mission to revolutionize commerce, we're looking for a skilled Staff iOS Engineer to join our Wallet Mobile Engineering Organization. In this role, you'll help shape the next generation of PayPal's mobile wallet, a multi-year initiative that will reach hundreds of millions of users worldwide. You'll lead architectural decisions, guide technical strategy, and collaborate with teams across PayPal to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative mobile experiences. Essential Responsibilities:

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
• Proactively improves existing structures & processes
• Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
• Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
• Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
• Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Expected Qualifications:

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

In this role, you'll join our
NFC Mobile Engineering Team
, a tight-knit group building PayPal's next-generation contactless payment experiences. The team includes several Europe-based engineers and a Technical Project Manager. We're expanding in Sweden to boost real-time collaboration, accelerate development and code reviews, and better support NFC testing and rollout across European markets. It's a great opportunity to work with talented peers and make a meaningful impact on a multi-year product roadmap.

Your day-to-day
As a Staff iOS Engineer, you'll get the opportunity to influence the technical direction of our mobile wallet and drive engineering excellence across the team. Day to day, you'll be involved in:

• Designing and evolving the iOS architecture that powers PayPal's mobile wallet
• Building high-quality, scalable iOS features using Swift and Objective-C.
• Partnering with product, design, and downstream engineering teams to define requirements and deliver world-class mobile experiences.
• Mentoring and coaching engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
• Leading technical discussions, architectural reviews, and contributing to long-term mobile strategy.
• Driving experimentation, innovation, and best practices in mobile development.

What You Need To Succeed

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in iOS development.
• Strong expertise in Swift, Objective-C, and iOS architecture.
• Proven experience designing and delivering software platforms or libraries.
• Deep understanding of Cocoa frameworks, Xcode, and mobile development patterns.
• Strong object-oriented design, coding, and testing skills.
• Ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable mobile systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

Get bonus points with…

• Experience with mobile payments, financial apps, or secure mobile integrations.
• Proficiency with React Native.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), monitoring tools (Crashlytics), and testing frameworks.
• Experience optimizing mobile performance at scale.
• A track record of influencing technical direction or driving mobile architecture.
