About the Role:
We are seeking a Verification & Validation Engineer (Level 2) to join our R&D organization in Västerås. In this role, you will perform product and system testing of Protection & Control solutions—such as the Relion 670/650 series—used in substation automation. Testing is conducted during product development phases prior to product release. You will work closely with a dedicated team consisting of five test engineers and a test lead, contributing to high-quality, reliable products that meet industry standards and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining test specifications based on product requirements

  • Configuring products and systems prior to testing in accordance with specifications and substation automation standards

  • Establishing and supervising test setups, including auxiliary equipment and wiring

  • Automating test cases where applicable to improve efficiency and coverage

  • Executing functional, system, and integration tests

  • Analyzing, documenting, and reporting test results

  • Ensuring electrical safety during all testing activities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

  • 2–5 years of practical experience within substation automation

  • Hands-on experience with protection relays and/or substation automation systems

  • Strong knowledge of substation automation standards, such as IEC 61850

  • Good understanding of communication protocols and distributed systems

  • Experience with protection and control products in R&D environments

  • Structured, detail-oriented approach to testing and documentation

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High focus on quality, safety, and compliance
