Are you passionate about protecting people, assets, and critical operations from one of the most dangerous hazards in electrical systems - arc flash?
At ABB Electrification - Smart Power Division, we are shaping the global transition toward safer, smarter, and more reliable energy systems. As a Global Application Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing protection strategies, technologies, and solutions that reduce arc flash risk across industries, utilities, and mission-critical power infrastructure.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of safety, standards, and innovation - from arc guard systems and fast mitigation techniques to digital twins that simulate and validate protective strategies. Beyond compliance, you will play a key role in shaping new product innovations that not only meet but anticipate evolving IEC, UL, and IEEE requirements. By bringing new solutions into real applications, you will help drive adoption in segments where uptime, resilience, and safety are non-negotiable.

Your Responsibilities
- Promote, develop, and validate next-generation arc flash protection and mitigation solutions that deliver customer value, in close collaboration with Product Management and R&D.
- Engage with customers worldwide to understand and address critical needs in arc flash detection, protection, and mitigation across industries, utilities, and mission-critical power applications.
- Develop training programs, value propositions, and communication materials that highlight ABB's leadership in arc flash protection, including compliance with IEC, UL, and IEEE standards.
- Analyze market and regulatory trends in arc flash safety to define ABB's competitive positioning and recommend adjustments for long- and mid-term strategic planning.
- Act as the application feedback link between customers, Product Management, and R&D by sharing insights on customer requirements, standardization needs, and application gaps in arc flash protection.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- Preferably 5+ years of industrial experience, with direct experience in arc flash applications, protection coordination, or arc mitigation solutions
- Strong knowledge of arc flash standards and regulations and their application in critical power, utility, and industrial segments
- Travel requirement 20-25%
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English
