The role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join a dynamic and collaborative team responsible for the development of advanced
electrical distribution system components
. You will work closely with design engineers and product planners, contributing to end-to-end product development activities for components that enable efficient wiring distribution throughout the vehicle.

The team delivers cable harnesses supported by in-house designed components, ensuring robust, sustainable, and manufacturable solutions.

Main responsibilities

  • Define design prerequisites for mechanical components supporting vehicle harnesses (such as channels, grommets, brackets, etc.). Develop concepts for electrical distribution system components, ensuring compliance with requirements related to sustainability, packaging, mechanical performance, and robustness.
  • Create detailed designs and technical specifications, considering manufacturing processes, assembly requirements, and cost efficiency.
  • Support prototyping activities and conduct testing in rig environments. Participate in prototype builds, perform assessments, validate designs, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation throughout the design and development process, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and alignment with relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, actively contributing to innovation within the electrical distribution systems domain.

Knowledge / Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in
    Mechanical Engineering
    or a related field.
  • Minimum
    5 years of experience
    in the design of mechanical components for electrical distribution systems, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards for
    metallic, rubber, and plastic components
    .
  • Proficiency in
    CAD tools
    (e.g. CATIA) and simulation tools, such as cable simulations, mold flow simulations, and finite element analysis for structural assessments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to changes.

Desirable

  • Experience working in cross-functional environments involving electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, as well as purchasers and suppliers.
  • Good understanding of product development processes, project plans, gates, and milestones within an automotive development framework.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling seamless integration of electrical distribution components into vehicle platforms.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
