Coherent Järfälla is where cutting-edge photonics meets everyday teamwork. Home to Sweden's only full-scale indium phosphide (InP) wafer fab, we design, produce, and test some of the world's fastest optical chips – all under one roof.

JOB SUMMARY
The Bar Fab & Test Engineering Manager leads the engineering team responsible for Bar Fabrication and Test equipment within Coherent Järfälla Operations. This role is accountable for developing people, processes, and technologies to deliver manufacturing objectives across efficiency, yield, quality, and capacity.
You will provide hands-on leadership to production engineering activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives, support manufacturing operations, and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Operations, R&D, Quality, and global Coherent sites.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Operations
- Lead and develop the Bar Fab & Test Engineering team within Operations, building capability through coaching, performance management, and continuous improvement
- Own engineering responsibility for Bar Fabrication (cleaving, stacking, handling), Test Engineering (wafer probe, laser bar testing), and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
- Provide day-to-day production engineering support, including corrective actions and process optimisation
Process, Improvement & NPI
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, technologies, and work practices to drive yield, quality, efficiency, and capacity
- Identify, lead, and implement process and equipment improvement initiatives
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to enable extended manufacturing capabilities
Training, Metrics & Maintenance
- Train and support operators and supervisors
- Monitor, analyse, and report manufacturing engineering metrics
- Partner with Maintenance on preventive maintenance planning and spare-parts strategy
Collaboration & Management
- Collaborate across Operations, R&D, Quality, Product Engineering, and global Coherent sites
- Manage supplier interactions as required
- Perform core people-management responsibilities, including planning, delegating, and decision-making within the assigned process area
ABOUT YOU
- Master of Science in Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5–10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or similar roles
- Substantial experience in:
- Semiconductor test engineering
- Laser bar cleaving and stacking
- High-volume, high-precision manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated initiative and practical leadership capability
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to work independently with general direction to achieve objectives
Language Requirements: Fluent in Swedish and English (written and spoken)
