We are seeking several area construction managers for our client in northern sweden.
We're seeking three
Construction Area Leaders
to oversee one of the key areas of a large, multidisciplinary industrial project. You'll manage construction activities across
earthworks, civil works, steel structures, mechanical, electrical, automation assembly, and commissioning
, working closely with the Client, who oversees contractor coordination.
The ideal candidate is an engineer with strong experience in major industrial projects, capable of leading teams, resolving technical and contractual issues, and working under pressure in a multicultural environment. You will report to the Project Construction Manager and collaborate closely with the Client and PMC teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Client Construction team in all activities for the assigned area, aligned with PMC duties (quality control, progress, financial monitoring, risk & opportunity management, reporting).
- Coordinate the PMC Construction Team to ensure contractors deliver according to contract terms, project standards, and schedule.
- Work closely with other PMC area teams and report regularly to the Construction Manager.
- Ensure compliance with Client policies, procedures, and project execution standards.
- Coordinate with Client logistics and Manufacturer Supervisors for equipment delivery and installation.
- Maintain strong relationships with Client and Contractors to resolve issues efficiently.
- Oversee construction progress regarding technical compliance, schedule, cost, and HSE, ensuring alignment with design documentation.
- Ensure contractor activities comply with contractual procedures, management plans, inspection requirements, and legal obligations.
- Perform quality control and ensure adherence to technical specifications and regulations.
- Manage technical documentation, ensuring certificates, manuals, and plans are available and maintained.
- Maintain ongoing communication with contractors to resolve delays, quality concerns, or requirement changes.
- Prepare reports, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions when deviations occur.
- Support planning teams with progress measurement and upcoming activity planning.
- Identify and escalate project risks early and propose mitigation plans.
- Issue formal communications related to construction activities.
- Lead and participate in project and contract review meetings.
- Perform additional duties as requested by Project Directors, the Construction Manager, or the Client.
Requirements
- Engineering degree.
- 15+ years of Construction Management
experience in Oil & Gas, Engineering & Construction, Steel, Mining, or Infrastructure. - Strong leadership in managing construction teams (QC, scheduling, risk, contracts, cost control, reporting).
- QA/QC experience.
- Proven Construction Manager experience on major industrial projects.
- Risk and mitigation planning experience.
- Solid commercial and contractual understanding.
- Experience with technically complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Proficiency in
MS Office, Primavera, and/or Aconex
