Business Relationship Management, Corporates - EMEA

BRM Corporates EMEA is currently seeking a Director/Senior Director based out of our Stockholm or London office.

The role is situated within Fitch Ratings' Business & Relationship Management ("BRM") group for EMEA Corporates. BRM leads business development and marketing efforts for Fitch Ratings

This role will focus on new business origination:

  • Through banker / intermediary relationships in the Nordic countries
  • Directly from Issuers in the Nordic countries

What We Offer:

  • A flexible work environment with the ability to work remotely for up to two days per week
  • Great development opportunities
  • Challenging and rewarding work within a collaborative environment

We'll Count on You To:

The focus will be on originating new business in the Nordic countries through banker relationships (DCM / Syndicate / Origination / LevFin) and by marketing directly to prospective customers (Corporate issuers) in this region. The role may also entail supporting one or more business initiatives in the broader EMEA region

An important aspect of the role will be to continue to raise the profile of the Fitch brand through direct marketing (meetings), as well as third party events attendance, and targeted hosted events

Below is a list of some of the main deliverables expected of the successful candidate:

  • Origination of new business by:

  1. Developing a network of intermediaries (DCM, Syndicate, and origination, both in the IG and the HY/LF space) who will invite Fitch to pitch on deals
  2. Direct pitching to Corporate Issuer targets, both rated (by Moody's and/or S&P) or unrated
  3. Helping to map Fitch's EMEA banker (intermediary) coverage, and working closely with peers covering intermediaries in London
  • The role will require a strategic approach: the candidate will need to understand and capitalise on Fitch Ratings' positioning in the (non-financial) Corporates market, and be able to identify and prioritise new targets to maximise the opportunities
  • The successful candidate will be expected to develop a good understanding of the credit rating landscape and be able to formulate arguments around the benefits of Fitch
  • Manage a small portfolio of Nordic-based corporate issuer relationships in the first year of acquisition
  • Working with the Marketing Research Associates on the production of marketing pitchbooks plus other materials required for engagement with target issuers
  • Be responsible for execution, including contract negotiation with external counterparties, preparing Engagement Letters, Confidentiality Agreements, and Hold Harmless Letters required for rating mandates
  • Bringing creative ideas to help develop new marketing angles (e.g. tailored webinars and marketing campaigns)
  • The role involves frequent travel around the Nordics

What You Need to Have:

This role requires an understanding of corporate finance, and the changing debt capital markets landscape, including the Investment Grade, High Yield and Leveraged Finance marketplace, ideally gained from an origination or advisory role

As this is a business development role, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to develop revenues from both established and self-managed prospect lists

The candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate at a senior level. Strong marketing and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite, with a successful track record of developing commercial relationships and opportunities

Additionally, the candidate should have:

  • Excellent English language skills as well as proficiency in Swedish and/or another Scandinavian language
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate confidently with treasurers and CFOs
  • Demonstrable capability of originating new business
  • Strong command of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and develop and implement the strategy for the markets they will cover
  • Team oriented, with ability to effectively build relationships both externally and internally

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • An understanding of credit analysis, and the role of credit ratings in capital markets
  • Established local and international banker relationships in the Nordics
  • Established corporate Treasurer / CFO relationships in the Nordics
  • Having a contact base also outside the Nordics would be beneficial
  • University degree, preferably in a business-related discipline. Other professional or business qualification (e.g. MBA, master's degree)

Why Choose Fitch:

  • Hybrid Work Environment: 3 days a week in office required
  • A Culture of Learning & Mobility: Dedicated trainings, leadership development and mentorship programs designed to ensure that your time at Fitch will be a continuous learning opportunity
