Logistics & Immigration Advisor

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active secret clearance to be considered. 

A government contract requires that this position be restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents.  You must provide documentation that you are a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to qualify.

The Logistics and Immigration Advisor serve as principal Customs and Shipping Coordinator for the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC), processing incoming and outgoing diplomatic and official shipments, liaises with relevant Iraqi Officials, and advises American officers on customs and shipping regulations and procedures.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for LOGISTICS & IMMIGRATION ADVISOR: Pay commensurate with experience.

LOGISTICS & IMMIGRATION ADVISOR Responsibilities Include:

Develops and maintains close working relationships with Iraqi government officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance (Customs and Tax), Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Defense, and the airports in order to facilitate customs clearances, transit by American officials, and Intra-country shipments.

Provides technical expertise and advice to BDSC's Management regarding Iraqi laws, customs procedures, shipping practices, and transportation matters; ensure proper importation of Government-Owned Vehicles by complying with Iraqi customs laws and regulations. Coordinating with relevant Iraqi authorities and finding legal solutions for hundreds of GOV's that entered the country without any official customs declaration, inspection, and clearance. Coordinate with pertinent Iraqi officials, acquiring all necessary paperwork/stamps required to import US Government vehicles into Iraq.

Coordinates with Iraqi Customs for emergency aircraft parts, medical supplies and other emergency shipments and prepare courtesy notes as necessary.

Coordinates with Iraqi Customs regarding urgent shipments that arrived in the country that have no Diplomatic Note and prepares Promissory Notes when it is necessary.

Coordinates and escorts GOI officials as necessary to facilitate Customs' clearance of imported cargo; expedite incoming personnel through Immigrations and advise BDSC's Management of any changes in Iraqi's immigration procedures as necessary.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

LOGISTICS & IMMIGRATION ADVISOR Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Minimum of bachelor's degree or seven (7) years of relevant experience

Knowledge of Iraqi Customs laws, regulations, and procedures in order to perform the required services

Working level contacts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance (Customs and Tax), Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Communication, Baghdad Airport Authorities, Civil Aviation Authority, Port Authorities, Freight Forwarders, Carriers, and Clearing Agents are essential to obtain information and resolve issues d) Skill in oral and written communications to plan and coordinate activities, provide advice and guidance, prepare reports and notes in a clear and concise manner.

Level 3/3 in English is required.

Level 3/3 in Arabic is required
