Affibody is looking to recruit a Scientist in cell biology and immunology for the In Vitro Pharmacology (IVP) group. The location is in Affibody's premises at Karolinska Institutet, Campus Solna. The IVP group is scientifically and technically responsible for cell based and/or immunoassays for i) characterization of Affibody molecules in terms of binding/blocking capacity and function, ii) binding and potency assays, iii) impurity profiles, iv) immunogenicity, and v) PK. This includes responsibility for supporting the internal research process with development of new Affibody molecule candidate drugs, as well as supporting Affibody's CMC, non-clinical, and clinical activities with method development, analyses, and subject matter expert (SME) competence. Furthermore, the responsibility also includes tech transfer to and interactions with contract research organizations (CROs) and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) and providing subject matter expertise in collaborations with commercial and non-commercial partners.

The role in general

The ideal candidate brings a strong interest in cell- and immunoassay analysis and method development, combined with a collaborative mindset for working across internal and external cross-functional teams. As cell biology and immunology Scientist in the IVP group your main responsibilities include:

  • Independently plan and execute analysis and evaluation of Affibody molecules regarding potency to support the research projects
  • Development of analytical methods suitable for screening analysis and characterization o
  • Affibody molecules e.g., cell binding, receptor internalization, ELISA, and MSD methods
  • Document and report data and recommendations in electronic laboratory notebook (ELN), project meeting presentations, and formal written reports
  • Taking responsibility and accountability for generated results, recommendations and given timelines
  • Be up to date regarding method and technology development within the field of cell biology and immunology, in collaboration with other group members
  • In certain cases, coordinate project activities at contract labs regarding, e.g. animal studies or technology transfer of methods

Qualifications

The right candidate fulfills the following qualifications:

  • University or PhD degree in relevant scientific discipline
  • 5 years of experience from work with protein analysis, cell assays including flow cytometry, ELISA, and other immunoassay platforms, preferably in an industrial setting


  • Extensive experience from independent planning and performing experiments and analyzing data from scientific research
  • Experience of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence is an advantage
  • Experience of automation of laboratory work processes, including programming of Tecan Fluent or Biomek 4000 liquid handling robots is an advantage
  • Experience of analytical method development for testing biopharmaceuticals during clinical development is an advantage
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
