Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden Mojang Studios Full time 60,000 - 120,000 per year

Mojang Studios is best known as the creators of Minecraft, but we're also on a mission

to build a better world through the power of play.
Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It's the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.
As a Publishing Editor within the Consumer Products Team, you will collaborate with publishers to help create Minecraft's official global publishing program. This includes overseeing licensed formats such as novels, comics, and magazines. Your responsibilities include working closely with the commercial publishing manager to ensure the publishing program meets the high editorial standards. You will manage editorial reviews and provide feedback to Mojang's diverse range of publishing partners, while working alongside a designer to maintain Mojang's standards for game accuracy (lore), quality, and brand consistency. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, well-organized, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. You will oversee the publishing category from an editorial perspective, establishing effective processes for the partner program. Additionally, you will serve as both copywriter and editor for external communications and announcements related to the Consumer Products partner program, including newsletters and style guide updates.

Role Expectations

  • Review content submitted by publishing partners for approval and provide timely feedback in line with Mojang's guidelines.
  • Support publisher partners by supplying information, assets, and any resources necessary to meet Mojang's requirements.
  • Manage documentation and scheduling for publishing projects and regularly report progress to the broader team.
  • Offer recommendations to partners regarding the selection of freelance writers.
  • Continuously develop and refine editorial and publishing guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant or related field (such as English, Creative Writing, Communications, etc.).
  • At least four years of industry experience as an editor of books or other written material, journalist, or an equivalent position.

Skills

  • Exceptional written English skills, with the ability to edit others' work and make creative, thoughtful suggestions for improvement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Minecraft, including both the game and its community.
  • Highly organized with outstanding project management abilities.
  • Direct experience with the publishing industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proven track record of following through on tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in supporting challenging discussions and negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Proficiency with MS Suite, Click-Up, Slack, and Microsoft services such as Teams and SharePoint.

Bonus Skills

  • Direct experience with licensing or consumer products, or experience working on publishing projects based on video games.
  • Familiarity with various work processes, organizational structures, or project management tools such as MyMedia Box.

This is a full-time role based in Stockholm with a hybrid remote working model, where we work from the office two days a week. Please note that we are only considering candidates currently based in Sweden.

Mojang Studios
Mojang Studios is a Microsoft-owned game developer. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden and has offices around the world, including Stockholm, Redmond, Tokyo, London, and Shanghai. We're always working on new and exciting ways to expand the Minecraft universe.
Our community is global and incredibly diverse. We keep this in mind when developing anything, as we want people to feel included in Minecraft. And in recruiting, our goal is to make Mojang Studios as diverse as our community.
We got started as a tiny indie developer, and part of our culture still reflects that heritage. But we're also proud to belong to Xbox Game Studios, which creates unique opportunities to grow and develop.
To help us achieve amazing things, we have built an equally amazing studio space. Situated right on the water by Söder Mälarstrand, it's filled to the brim with all the tools, toys and caffeine required to create world-class entertainment.
But in the end, it's the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you'll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals – all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it
