Project Director-Megafactory Construction

Our Client
Our client is a well-funded technology group headquartered in Northern Europe, combining cutting-edge ventures in green energy and biotechnology. The group's mission is to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable, and healthier world through deep technological innovation.
To support rapid scale-up and industrialization, the group is planning the construction of a state-of-the-art megafactory in Asia. This facility will serve as a cornerstone for global production — manufacturing both advanced components for next-generation green energy systems and high-quality biotech products under one roof.
The Role
As Project Director, you will take full ownership of the planning, design, and construction of this ambitious megafactory. You will bridge engineering, construction, and executive strategy — managing all aspects of project delivery from initial concept through commissioning and operational handover.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic oversight and practical execution. The Project Director will coordinate with global stakeholders, manage international vendors and local authorities, and ensure that sustainability, efficiency, and safety remain at the heart of the project.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of the megafactory: from design and permitting to commissioning and handover:
- Oversee site selection, infrastructure design, and master planning, ensuring scalability and alignment with business goals;
- Manage external EPC firms, architects, construction contractors, and consultants;
- Act as the key liaison with local authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with building codes, safety, and biotech standards;
- Coordinate across internal teams (energy, biotech, engineering, and operations) to integrate cross-industry production requirements;
- Oversee budget control, scheduling, and risk management throughout all project phases;
- Implement and maintain highest safety, quality, and operational standards on site;
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including LEED Platinum or equivalent certification, renewable energy integration, and carbon-neutral design principles;
- Ensure the use of green materials, waste minimization, and smart factory systems for energy efficiency;
- Prepare for post-construction transition: equipment installation, process validation, staffing, and long-term operations setup;
- Provide transparent, data-driven reporting to the executive leadership team and board.
Your Profile
- Proven track record delivering large-scale industrial, high-tech, or multi-sector factory projects, ideally in energy, biotech, or advanced manufacturing;
- Strong expertise in project management, vendor coordination, and stakeholder communication across international environments;
- Experience managing complex, multidisciplinary facilities, including electrical, mechanical, process, and cleanroom systems;
- Familiarity with GMP standards (for biotech) and high-voltage or heavy manufacturing systems (for energy);
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable design and construction — ideally with exposure to LEED, BREEAM, or equivalent certifications;
- A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution — able to navigate both boardroom and construction site environments;
- Exceptional intercultural communication and leadership skills;
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (MBA or PMP certification advantageous;
- Fluent in English; additional European or Asian languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel frequently and spend extended periods at the construction site during key project phases.
