Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced
Exterior Design Consultant
to strengthen early-phase concept development and production design for future vehicle programs. The role spans
creative leadership, vehicle architecture integration, and hands-on exterior design
, ensuring strong alignment between design vision, engineering feasibility, and program requirements.

You will work in a
cross-functional and international environment
, collaborating closely with design, engineering, and program stakeholders. Depending on experience level, the role may include
on-site leadership responsibilities
and mentorship of designers across different seniority levels.

This is a key role with high creative impact, contributing directly to the success of strategic vehicle programs from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver exterior vehicle design concepts from early ideation through production.
  • Define proportions, form language, and design direction aligned with brand identity and program goals.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, vehicle architecture, and platform teams to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Support vehicle packaging, BIW, aerodynamics, EV architecture, ADAS, lighting, and ergonomic integration.
  • Produce high-quality sketches, renderings, and 3D models to communicate design intent.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless design-to-engineering integration.
  • Prepare and present design proposals to senior stakeholders and design leadership.
  • Mentor and guide designers, supporting consistent quality and professional development.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Professional Experience

  • Senior level: Minimum 5+ years of automotive exterior design experience with a strong portfolio.
  • Expert level: 15–20+ years of experience in automotive design, including advanced concept and production programs.
  • Experience from OEMs or advanced design studios in an international environment.
  • Proven ability to contribute to or lead early-phase design work and present concepts clearly to stakeholders.

Design & Technical Competence

  • Strong understanding of exterior design principles, vehicle packaging, BIW structures, aerodynamics, ergonomics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with CAS/A-Class surfacing, clay modeling, and physical model teams.
  • Familiarity with EV platforms, lighting systems, ADAS packaging, and cross-disciplinary workflows.
  • Understanding of HMI/UI/UX integration is considered an advantage.
