Background

Axis products are manufactured, assembled and tested at manufacturing sites all over the world, using production systems that are developed in-house at Axis. Our production systems use advanced technology and automation, yet there are still parts that are operator dependent.

We are currently developing the next generation production system and aim to deliver a high-quality user interface. The challenge lies in creating a machine-operator interface that is intuitive, accessible, and easy to use for operators worldwide. A well-designed production system UI reduces errors, improves productivity, and ensures that production processes maintain the highest quality standards.

This thesis will focus on exploring and developing UI design for our new production system. By combining user research, interaction design, and prototyping, you will contribute directly to shaping the next generation of production system at Axis.

Goal

• Develop a proof-of-concept UI for the next generation production system
• Define UI design guidelines for Axis' production systems to guide future development

Who are you?

For this thesis proposal we target students with a strong interest in User Experience. Most likely you are studying a Master's Program in Information and Communications Engineering or Bachelor/Master's Program in Interaction Design.

You will conduct this thesis within a software development department where UX and UI design is not a main focus area. This gives you an opportunity to lead the way, sharing your knowledge and guiding the team in best practices for user-centered design. Therefore, we believe you are self-driven and passionate about UX and UI design.
