QIAGEN DNA Synthesis AB in Sweden, has produced high quality synthetic DNA for diagnostic purposes for more than 30 years. We are situated in Västerås and have around 100 employees. We apply the medical device directives, ISO13485 (EU) and 21CFR820 (USA) and our production is carried out in accordance with GMP.

Position Description

As part of our business focus to develop digitalization and automation within production processes at QDS we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer. As the successful candidate you will join a team of 7, reporting to the Production Manager. As well as playing a key role in day-to-day support of the production teams, you will also contribute to implementation of novel technologies to QDS.

Key Responsibilities

• As part of the Maintenance Management team, work closely with the Manufacturing department of around 60 dedicated people to offer maintenance and technical support.
• Life cycle management of operational technology (OT) such as installation, programming, commissioning, operation and maintenance as well as the monitoring and control of automated processes, equipment and facility.
• Together with the maintenance engineer and production specialists support the manufacturing processes with the development of automation, troubleshooting, corrective/preventive maintenance and technical documentation.
• Contribute to strategic planning initiatives regarding future implementation of automation into production processes including liquid handling platforms and robot-based automation

Position Requirements

• At least three years' academic technical education.
• Proven technical experience within the field of automation.
• Experience from working in the pharmaceutical industry and quality systems e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
• Good computer skills and management of production control systems.
• An ability to combine operational day-to-day tasks with a strategic long-term view of the area of responsibility. Structured, results and goal orientated with a good sense of order, planning and prioritization.
• Good communication skills in English and Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
