We at the Search Team are responsible for Spam Detection, AI Identity, Name Resolution, and Fraud Detection. By accurately assigning names to phone numbers, detecting spam and fraud, and providing contextual caller information, we enhance users' trust and safety, empowering them to make informed decisions about incoming calls and directly supporting Truecaller's mission of enabling safe and trusted communication.

As a Software Engineer Backend in the Search team, you will collaborate with a dedicated team responsible for maintaining some of Truecaller's most essential services. These include the search engine that powers caller identification, the systems that manage spam protection, the services that handle user comments, and fraud protection services, among other critical functions. 

The impact you will create: 

• Develop, test, and deploy features for core, high-traffic backend services.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and engineering tasks.
• Actively contribute to the stability and maintainability of the production environment.
• Collaborate to continuously improve team processes and system performance, learning best practices along the way.

What you bring in: 

• Solid foundation in Java and/or Scala.
• Familiarity with the concepts of distributed systems.
• Experience or strong exposure to building data-intensive applications.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience building systems in the Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with virtualization environments, e.g. Docker
• Experience with systems for managing containerized applications, e.g., Kubernetes
• Experience with Cassandra and Kafka.
