Would you like to be a part of a team with experienced and talented colleagues, and drive the active management of model risk? We are looking for a Model Risk Lead to strengthen our model risk management for Nordea's insurance business.

About our team

Meet the Model Risk and Validation team. Our role is to add value by conducting independent model validation activities intended to verify the soundness of Nordea's models, and support the business in managing their model risk. As Model Risk Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring that models in the insurance business are appropriate for their intended business use.

Main responsibilities in this role:

  • Be a Nordea wide expert, responsible for understanding, advising and challenging first line of defence on implementation of regulation and risk frameworks.
  • Proactively and independently ensure quality in any tasks and deliveries within your area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and participate in the validation of models in the insurance business.
  • Ensure that models and model validation activities meet regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure robust management of Nordea's model risk, by proactively advising relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the development of techniques to further improve our validation approach.
  • Lead and ensure other's development and competence building through dialogue and knowledge sharing within your area of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Nordea Group.

Your background and skills include:

  • Academic degree in a quantitative field, such as actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, physics or similar from a high quality academic institution
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of actuarial techniques
  • Superior knowledge of the insurance business
  • Professional knowledge of Solvency II
  • Solid coding skills in Visual Basic, C# or Python, but experience in other programming languages is also valuable
  • Communication skills in Scandinavian languages or Finnish are an advantage
