Unlocking the Next Generation of Lithium-Ion Batteries

For over 30 years, lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries have dominated the battery market due to their high energy density and reliable performance. Today, the global Li-ion battery market stands at $100 billion and is projected to surpass $500 billion by 2035.

While incremental advancements have improved energy and power density, the core design and manufacturing processes of Li-ion batteries remain largely unchanged since their inception. Current manufacturing is highly energy-intensive, involves complex process steps, carbon-intensive, and dependent on specialised labor.

This has created significant barriers to entry for battery startups, particularly in Europe, where scaling from pilot to mass production is fraught with cost and efficiency challenges.

The Opportunity

We have developed a novel Li-ion battery manufacturing platform that slashes costs, accelerates production, and dramatically reduces environmental impact:

• Over 30% lower cell costs
  per kWh due to a streamlined manufacturing process, shorter production lead times, and a 50% reduction in CAPEX and manufacturing footprint.
• 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
  , achieved through process simplification and a high-efficiency direct recycling approach. This platform enables an 80% battery material recycling rate, cutting lifecycle emissions by 56%, with an additional 14% reduction from optimized process steps.
• 30% higher energy density
  , unlocking performance gains that conventional Li-ion cell structures cannot achieve. Improved safety and power capability are also inherent to our optimized design.

Our technology transforms the economics and sustainability of Li-ion battery production, unlocking its full potential to meet the evolving demands of electric vehicles, grid storage, and beyond. We are currently designing the first prototypes and preparing for real-world performance validation.

We are looking for a CEO and Co-Founder.
Your role will be broad, across product, sales, partnerships, operations, fundraising (venture and non-dilutive), team building, supplier management, and industrial scale-up. You will drive commercialisation and market adoption alongside a cutting-edge technical team poised to redefine the Li-ion battery industry.

You will join a stellar CTO & Co-Founder
, a battery industry insider whose career has spanned from doing a PhD at the University of Tokyo, to being the first hire at a Korean solid state battery company, to advancing R&D efforts at a major European battery manufacturer (Northvolt) as one of the first hires for over +8 years

Requirements

We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual highly motivated to start their own business from scratch and a driving motivation to mitigate climate change.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience and/or potential in CEO type activities, prior experiences in commercialisation of early-stage technologies, and outstanding communication skills for partners & stakeholders engagement. Additionally, we are looking for a CEO who is just as excited as we are about e-mobility & Li-ion battery industries and eager to relocalize battery manufacturing to Europe.

We're primarily looking for someone in Sweden, France, or Germany (or willing to relocate).

Example of relevant backgrounds:

• Former startup founder / operator / VC
• with a deep tech, hardware & ideally battery or adjacent technology focus
• OR
  commercial operator at a major battery company
  , specialised across the battery value chain, from sourcing battery inputs to manufacturing battery cells to negotiating offtakes.
• OR
  infrastructure leader
  , with extensive project finance and project development experience, able to think strategically about building a gigafactory with smart capital
