For every child,
the right to innovate
UNICEF has a 70-year history of innovating for children. We believe that new approaches, partnerships and technologies that support realizing children's rights are critical to improving their lives.
The Office of Innovation is a creative, interactive, and agile team in UNICEF. We sit at a unique intersection, where an organization that works on huge global issues meets the start-up thinking, the technology, and the partners that turn this energy into scalable solutions.
The Office of Innovation (OOI) is undergoing a transition as part of the broader Future Focus Initiative (FFI). Elements of OOI's work are being integrated into other divisions, while a core innovation unit will remain to continue advancing UNICEF's innovation agenda. In this moment of both continuity and change, the Office wishes to hold a virtual end-of-year celebration to recognize the collective achievements of the team, acknowledge colleagues transitioning out, and provide space for reflection and connection across locations. This event will bring together colleagues OOI teams across locations in Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Geneva and Barcelona, along with remote colleagues. Each location will host small in-person gatherings that connect virtually for a shared celebration in early December 2025. Given the dispersed setup, ongoing travel restrictions, and the emotional tone of this period, the event will be intentionally designed to be inclusive, meaningful, and balanced, combining celebration and playfulness, reflection, and gratitude while acknowledging the human realities of the change.
Our team
OOI brings together teams working on digital public goods, frontier technology, learning and innovation, and partnerships. With hubs in Stockholm, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Geneva and Barcelona, the Office operates through a distributed model, fostering collaboration across geographies and disciplines. The team embodies UNICEF's values of care, creativity, and agility, constantly exploring how innovation can drive better outcomes for children. This event is intended as a shared space to recognize that spirit, connect colleagues across locations, and celebrate the journey to date while looking ahead to the future of innovation within UNICEF.
How can you make a difference?
As the Hybrid End-of-Year Celebration Consultant, you will design and lead an online event that captures the Office of Innovation's journey, connects colleagues across hubs, and provides space for appreciation and closure. You will manage the full process, from concept development to facilitation and post-event documentation, ensuring the experience is thoughtful, balanced, and inclusive.
The consultant will act as both creative director and facilitator, shaping the narrative and emotional tone of the event while handling coordination, content design, and delivery logistics.
The consultant will also document the process and outcomes, capturing the event narrative, visuals, and staff reflections in a post-event summary to serve as a record of OOI's journey and learnings during this transition.

- Event Coordination and Facilitation

UNICEF promotes and advocates for the protection of the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything it does and is mandated to support the realization of the rights of every child, including those most disadvantaged, and our global workforce must reflect the diversity of those children. The UNICEF family is committed to include everyone, irrespective of their race/ethnicity, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, socio-economic background, minority, or any other status.
UNICEF encourages applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, nationality, religious or ethnic backgrounds, and from people with disabilities, including neurodivergence. UNICEF provides reasonable accommodation throughout the recruitment process. If you require any accommodation, please submit your request through the accessibility email button on the UNICEF Careers webpage Accessibility | UNICEF. Should you be shortlisted, please get in touch with the recruiter directly to share further details, enabling us to make the necessary arrangements in advance.
UNICEF does not hire candidates who are married to children (persons under 18). UNICEF has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and UNICEF, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of authority and discrimination based on gender, nationality, age, race, sexual orientation, religious or ethnic background or disabilities. UNICEF is committed to promote the protection and safeguarding of all children. All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks, and will be expected to adhere to these standards and principles. Background checks will include the verification of academic credential(s) and employment history. Selected candidates may be required to provide additional information to conduct a background check, and selected candidates with disabilities may be requested to submit supporting documentation in relation to their disability confidentially.

UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
