About the Role

We are seeking a Welding Specialist to support a critical equipment replacement project on a part-time, on-site basis. This role provides technical welding expertise to the client, ensuring that all welding activities are executed in accordance with contractual requirements, applicable welding standards, and site-specific work environment and safety regulations, including hot work procedures.

The Welding Specialist will act as the project's primary welding authority on site, supporting the project team through hands-on oversight, documentation review, quality control, and coordination with contractors and suppliers. The assignment includes both day and night site presence, with authority to intervene if execution quality or safety is compromised.

About You

You are an experienced welding professional with formal international certification and several years of experience in similar industrial projects. You have a solid understanding of boiler structures and welded components, enabling you to assess technical risks and consequences throughout the work process. You are comfortable working independently, designing action plans in collaboration with project teams, and acting as the client's "eyes on site."

You bring strong attention to detail, ensuring welding procedures, consumables, and documentation are correct and compliant. You communicate clearly with project stakeholders and supplier QA representatives, proactively report deviations, and take responsibility for quality and safety outcomes. You are confident in exercising stop-work authority when execution does not meet required standards.

What You'll Be Doing

• Act as technical welding support for the client

• Verify compliance with contracts, welding standards, and documentation requirements

• Ensure welding work follows site work environment and safety rules, including hot work requirements

• Perform pre- and post-work activities, including contract input, installation documentation, and final reporting

• Develop and execute an action plan in coordination with the project team

• Monitor on-site welding execution, ensuring correct WPS usage, consumables, and documentation

• Conduct visual inspections of welding quality and contractor work

• Identify, document, and report welding deviations and quality issues to the client

• Maintain direct communication with supplier QA or equivalent representatives

• Participate in welding-related risk assessments and work environment planning

• Review and verify drawings, inspection and test plans (ITP), welder qualifications, and WPS

• Ensure complete and accurate welding documentation prior to handover

• Maintain daily site diaries and reporting to the project team

• Participate in project and supplier meetings

• Document and support deviation management processes

• Exercise stop-work authority in cases of suspected incorrect execution, following client communication

Required Qualifications

• Minimum IWS (International Welding Specialist); IWI-C (International Welding Inspector – Comprehensive) preferred

• Several years of experience in similar industrial welding oversight assignments

• Basic knowledge of boiler construction and welded pressure components

• Experience independently developing action plans in collaboration with project teams

• Proven experience acting as the project's on-site welding representative

• Experience with risk assessments and work environment planning related to welding activities
