Head of Business Technology

Nofence is a Norwegian scale-up who has built the world's first virtual fencing solution for livestock. As we aim to revolutionize livestock management, we will need top-notch competence within Business Technology / IT, and we are now looking for a Head of Business Technology. As Head of Business Technology at Nofence, you will define, build, and lead our business technology function shaping the systems, data, and infrastructure that enable scalable growth and operational excellence.

Reporting to the COO, you'll combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You'll balance transformation with reliable, secure, and scalable operations that keep our business running smoothly every day.

This role carries ownership for the business technology roadmap, budget, and delivery. You'll ensure investments are cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with business objectives, while driving the adoption of tools, data, and platforms that empower every team at Nofence.

Tech Strategy, Governance & AI

• Define and execute Nofence's business technology strategy and enterprise architecture
• Manage the business technology budget, optimizing cost efficiency and value realization
• Define technology standards, interoperability principles, and governance frameworks
• Manage run/change portfolios, allocate capacity, and track technical debt and dependencies
• Serve as product owner for enterprise platforms by managing roadmaps, partners, and delivery
  
• Drive the effective and responsible adoption of AI tools and capabilities across the organization to enhance productivity, insight, and decision-making

Data & Business Intelligence

• Establish data governance, MDM, and quality SLAs with clear domain ownership
• Define and implement the BI strategy to deliver a trusted single source of truth and enable self-service analytics

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Own information security, privacy, and compliance frameworks
• Oversee risk management, vendor assessments, and audit readiness
• Define business continuity and disaster recovery plans with clear response governance

Operations & Reliability

• Design and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient IT infrastructure
• Oversee end-user IT services, including device lifecycle, software provisioning, and service desk operations
• Lead the evaluation and rollout of platforms such as ERP, CRM, e-commerce, and low/no-code tools, always balancing governance, security, and ROI
• Implement QA and release governance for enterprise platforms and integrations

Ecosystem & Vendor Management

• Own the partner and vendor landscape across enterprise platforms and services
• Negotiate contracts, manage SLAs/OLAs, and ensure transparent SaaS/cloud spend through FinOps practices

Stakeholder & Change Management

• Collaborate with Product & Engineering, Finance, Commercial, and Operations to deliver secure, scalable solutions that enable business performance
• Serve as the executive point of contact for IT, ensuring transparent communication, alignment, and proactive risk management
• Drive user adoption and readiness for new systems and processes through structured change management

Talent & Organization

• Design the future IT organization, hire and develop key roles
• Build team capabilities and foster effective collaboration across technical and business teams

This role focuses on business technology: the systems, data, and infrastructure that enable scalable internal operations.

Our Product & Engineering teams retain full ownership of customer-facing technology, development frameworks, and cloud architecture decisions. The Head of Business Technology will collaborate closely as a consultative partner to ensure coherence, data flow, and security across the enterprise landscape.

• 7+ years of IT leadership experience, ideally in a fast-growing international environment
• Proven track record in IT strategy, systems/enterprise architecture, and infrastructure management
• Deep understanding of IT security, privacy, compliance, and risk management frameworks
• Experience managing run/change portfolios, platform roadmaps, and technical debt
• Strong knowledge of data governance, MDM, and modern BI tooling
• Experience managing IT budgets, P&L accountability, SaaS/cloud FinOps, and vendor relationships
• Background with ERP, CRM, process automation, and integrations
• Skilled in defining and enforcing QA/release governance and service SLAs
• Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills across all levels
• Hands-on leader with experience hiring and developing high-performing IT teams
• Fluent in English (Norwegian or Swedish is a plus)
