Background
The introduction of Performance-based Resistance Requirements would mark a shift in how the durability of concrete structures is specified and verified. Exposure Resistance Classes (ERC) regulated in prEN 1992 is one example. The ERC concept aims to improve the connection between environmental exposure, the properties of concrete, and the technical service life of structures, by introducing a more performance-based and verifiable methodology for durability design.
For the contractor, there are both potentials and obstacles in current working methods and processes connected to the right concrete mix for the unique conditions of each project with regard to climate impact and buildability.
Objective
The project's goal is to identify potentials and obstacles and actions required to make use of the benefits of Performance-based Resistance Requirements for concrete structures in a contractor's core business activities.
Expected results
- Important parameters
- Identified risks for the contractor
- Identified incentives for the contractor to adapt to Performance-based Resistance Requirements
- Recommendations for implementation
Method
Literature review of scientific state-of-the-art. Document analysis and interviews.
Your profile and Application
This Master Thesis is suitable for 2 students with an interest in concrete material and development of a contractor´s core business. You are at the end of your studies and about to start your Master Thesis work for 30 HP.
Language
Swedish or English. This master thesis does not require fluency in Swedish.

Location
Your industrial supervisor is placed in Malmö and Göteborg, but you can be a student at any Swedish university to apply
