YOUR MISSION AT VOI

As Director of Design & Research, you will lead Voi's global user experience design and qualitative research across all digital and physical touchpoints—from our rider and operations products to vehicles and accessories. You'll shape the vision, strategy, and execution of a cohesive Voi experience, grounded in deep customer insight and aligned with our business goals.

You'll be managing and supporting a team of seven product designers, championing user-centred thinking, advancing research maturity, and ensuring design excellence at every interaction. This will include:

  • Setting the global design and research vision for Voi across digital products, vehicles, and physical touchpoints, ensuring quality, consistency and tangible impact.
  • Building, developing, and retaining a high-performing team with a culture of collaboration, creativity, accountability and psychological safety.
  • Ensuring seamless integration of the digital and physical experience with Voi, delivering a cohesive end to end journey for riders, operating staff and cities.
  • Leading the growth and maturity of Voi's qualitative user research practice, embedding it into decision-making across product, operations, and business.
  • Supporting new business lines with a tailored design and research approach to ensure success from early-stage concept to market launch.
  • Overseeing the evolution of Voi's design system, tools, and processes to support rapid, high-quality delivery across teams.
  • Acting as a thought leader on the future of micromobility experience design, staying ahead of industry trends and emerging user needs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO EMBARK

We are looking for a collaborative and innovative design leader who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. You are passionate about user-centered design, skilled at partnering with diverse stakeholders, and take full ownership of driving impact across the organisation. We believe the right person has: 

  • 5+ years of experience in technology oriented design leadership roles, spanning digital product design, qualitative research. Experience of hardware or industrial design is a plus.
  • Proven experience from building and managing high performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of design and research methods, from exploratory research to usability testing.
  • Proven ability to influence and drive collaboration across complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong business acumen and experience aligning design with measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Ability to self-serve data and do basic quantitative analytics.
  • Demonstrated product and design sense, with a proven ability to develop valuable hypotheses.
  • Ability to shift between strategy, leadership and working hands-on when needed.
  • Experience from both software and hardware development lifecycles is a plus.
