Together with our partners in the Great Lakes, Kvinna till Kvinna has been working for women's rights in the region since 2009. We are just about to start up a new regional programme in the nexus of gender, climate change and conflict in. To lead the programme, we are looking for dynamic, experienced Programme Manager with a clear commitment to Kvinna till Kvinna's values and mandate to ensure high-quality planning, implementation and follow-up.
This position is offered on a local contract, preferably based in one of Kvinna till Kvinna's offices in Rwanda or the DRC. Remote arrangements may be considered depending on the candidate's location and our ability to ensure legal and administrative compliance.

About the jobKvinna till Kvinna has been supporting women's rights in the Great Lakes region since 2009. With the launch of this programme, we are expanding our cross-regional collaboration at a time when cooperation across borders is increasingly vital for peace, climate justice, and women's participation.
As Programme Manager, you will oversee the coordination, implementation, and follow-up of this cross-regional initiative. This includes leading programme planning, monitoring, and risk management, as well as partner selection and ongoing collaboration. You will also be responsible for commissioning key studies — such as the baseline and end-line evaluations, research, and mappings — and for procuring relevant consultants to support programme delivery.
Assisted by the regional Finance teams, you will hold overall responsibility for programme budgeting, financial monitoring, and reporting. You will maintain an active dialogue with donors and ensure high-quality reporting in coordination with the wider programme team.
In collaboration with programme and advocacy staff, you will lead the planning and delivery of workshops, trainings, and capacity-strengthening activities at the regional level, and support the development of content and methodology for national initiatives. You will also manage sub-granting to women-led organisations, supporting both advocacy efforts and grassroots initiatives in DRC, Uganda, and Rwanda.
While the role does not include line management responsibilities, you will guide the daily work of staff engaged in the programme across the two regional offices and work closely with colleagues at Head Office in Stockholm.
About youYou are a strategic and analytical professional who can balance independent work with collaboration across teams and contexts. You bring strong experience in programme management and results-based approaches, and you are motivated by feminist values and a commitment to women's rights and peacebuilding. You are comfortable working across borders, cultures, and disciplines and thrive in environments where partnership and learning are at the centre.
Required skills- At least a bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict, Sociology, Political Science, Public Administration, Development studies, or similar. A Master's Degree in related studies will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years' experience in project management (budget management, planning, implementation, PMEL, etc.).
- Prior experience working with international NGOs, women's rights organisations and peacebuilding, humanitarian organisations, or development agencies;
- Proven expertise on the areas of Women Human Rights, gender mainstreaming, advocacy and/or peacebuilding.
- Proven experience in provision of capacity-building for civil society actors (managing diverse partners with a varying degrees of capacity).
- Knowledge of relevant advocacy tools and processes such as monitoring tools for WPS NAPs, ECC/NDCs compliance tracking, policy briefs, and shadow reporting.
- Experience in strategic budgeting, financial forecasting and monthly budget follow-ups;
- Excellent writing, reporting and communication skills in English
- Good knowledge of MS Office software including Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint and Power Point.
- Able to travel in the Great Lakes region
Meriting
- Fluency in French (written and spoken)
- Experience of working with environment and climate change or support to climate justice actors.
You will join a more than 120 dedicated colleagues at Kvinna till Kvinna, working together for women's rights in over 20 conflict-affected countries. As part of this global team, you will be based in the Great Lakes region with regular online collaboration across offices and regions. Travel within the region will be expected giving you the opportunity to connect directly with partners and peers.

Terms & conditionsThis position is offered on a local contract, preferably based in one of Kvinna till Kvinna's offices in Rwanda or the DRC. Remote arrangements may be considered depending on the candidate's location and our ability to ensure legal and administrative compliance. Candidates must have the right to reside and work in their country of employment, and to travel in the region.
The position is 50%, one year with the possibility of extension depending on funding, and includes a probationary period. The start date is as soon as possible (pending funding) but no later than 1 January 2026.
We offer a standard 37.5-hour working week with flexible, goal-oriented arrangements. Staff are entitled to at least 25 working days of annual leave (pro rata for part-time positions), in addition to national public holidays, paid sick leave, parental leave, and other statutory entitlements. Employees also benefit from a wellness allowance and a weekly wellness hour.
Kvinna till Kvinna provides pension and insurance coverage, including health insurance for employees and dependents, accident and travel insurance, and contributions to the national social security and pension scheme where possible.
