Ready for your next chapter? We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Content Platform team

The Content Platform domain is the backbone of Storytel, ingesting and processing all content from publishers to the platform, enriching it with metadata, and building systems that organize knowledge about creators and content. Over three million audiobooks, ebooks, and podcasts flow through our processing pipeline and are made available to other teams via APIs and event streams.

The domain mission is to be a key driver for Storytel's product and commercial strategy by making book metadata a competitive advantage for Storytel. The team leverages AI and automation to scale the creation and enhancement of book metadata, fueling product innovation and unlocking the full potential of generative AI-powered experiences.

Take the next step in your career as a Senior Backend Engineer at Storytel You'll work with cutting-edge technologies alongside other experienced colleagues. As a senior backend engineer, you'll be involved in – and be asked to lead some of – our modernisation journey, but also the maintenance of the existing platform. Your skills and experience will also be valuable in supporting and coaching more junior engineers.

To be a good match for this role, we believe that you have:

Solid knowledge of backend development in Java, and experience of more polyglot environments – today we maintain services in mostly Java, but even some in Golang, Kotlin, and C#.

A great understanding of modern architecture, system design, data structures, and software engineering principles, and knowing how to apply them to design scalable and robust solutions.

Experience with deploying and operating services in a cloud environment (we use Google Cloud Platform, but experience from other platforms is just as valuable).

A curious and positive mindset about the potential of LLMs, both as a tool to enhance your own workflow and as a component for building innovative product features.

Experience working closely with business and product stakeholders, and understanding their needs. You can transition from the idea stage to scalable and maintainable solutions.
