Valmet in Karlstad is looking for two Software Design Engineers to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to combine technology, travel, and personal development in a leading international environment.

What You'll Do

As a Software Design Engineer, you'll be part of a supportive onboarding program that will help you get up to speed with our systems and processes. You'll work on programming, development, and commissioning of automation systems for tissue production machines. You'll collaborate with internal engineering teams across different countries and play a key role both in our workshop and at customer sites worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming and development of automation logic
  • Design and validation of safety systems
  • Machine checkout, startup, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Participation in R&D and new technology development
  • Electrical design and documentation
  • Budget and timeline responsibility within projects
  • Continuous improvement of methods and processes

Requirements

  • Technical education (high school or university level)
  • Strong interest in automation and industrial systems
  • Experience or familiarity with PLC and/or DCS systems
  • Fluent in Swedish and English
  • Willingness to travel internationally for periods of at least 6 consecutive weeks, twice per year
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams across different countries
