Data Engineer to our Platform Team

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join our newly formed Platform Team. You'll be instrumental in building and maintaining our data infrastructure as we migrate to MongoDB Atlas and modernize our entire data platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape the data architecture at an early and exciting stage of our platform evolution.
As part of the Platform Team, you'll work alongside senior DevOps engineers to create a unified, serverless platform that powers our operations. You'll own the data layer while collaborating closely on the broader platform architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Help teams design and implement NoSQL data models, including migration from SQL to NoSQL architectures for our MongoDB Atlas platform
• Build and maintain data pipelines and automated reporting systems
• Design solutions for integrating third-party system data into the platform
• Ensure data security, compliance, and implement monitoring/observability solutions
• Provide statistical analysis to drive business decisions across the organization
• Partner with customer support, sales, and operations teams to deliver actionable metrics and insights from operational data
• Architect scalable data solutions that support both real-time and batch processing needs
• Define data retention strategies and optimize storage/query performance
• Contribute to and influence telemetry and metrics collection across our platform

About you

We're looking for someone who has

• At least 5 years of experience with NoSQL data modelling and architecture
• At least 3 years of experience AWS services (Lambda, Kinesis, Athena, S3, RDS etc.)
• Understanding of SQL for migration purposes to NoSQL data models
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering tasks
• Proven track record in data security, compliance, and observability implementations
• Experience building production data pipelines and automated reporting systems
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders
• Experience communicating metrics and statistics to diverse teams (sales, support, operations)
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, or similar)
• Comfortable working with operational data

Highly value if you also have experience in

• MongoDB Atlas platform knowledge
• Logistics or supply chain industry experience
• TypeScript and Go programming languages
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi - we use Pulumi)
• DevOps practices and tools
• Experience in serverless architectures
• Knowledge of event-driven data processing
