Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join one of the largest data transformation initiatives within our organization. You will play a key role in building and optimizing data products aligned with a Data Mesh architecture, driving our journey toward a data-driven enterprise.
You'll be part of the Data Engineering Competence Area within the AI, Analytics & Data Domain, contributing as an individual member in one of our product teams. Our mission is to enable all global brands within the group to create, structure, and ensure that data is accessible, reliable, and of high quality.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of designing, building, optimizing, and supporting both new and existing data products in alignment with our target vision.
- Champion DevOps principles—managing CI/CD pipelines, Terraform configurations, and cloud infrastructure (primarily on Google Cloud Platform).
- Ensure all data products meet defined non-functional standards for security, scalability, observability, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to evolve existing data products and identify new ones to meet business needs.
- Engage with product teams across domains to drive adoption of Data Mesh concepts and best practices.
- Continuously evaluate and improve solutions, reducing technical debt and enhancing performance.
- Stay current with the latest innovations in data, analytics, and cloud technologies.
Required Competence & Experience
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer working with GCP or other modern cloud data platforms.
- Proven experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with data-centric programming using Python, Java, or Scala.
- Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, data pipelines, and trade-offs in design decisions.
- Experience with data formats such as Parquet and Avro.
- Knowledge of NoSQL and RDBMS databases.
- Solid background in cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
