Workday Payroll Integration Specialist

For our client we are looking for an experienced Workday Payroll Integration Specialist with strong hands-on expertise in Workday Core Connectors and payroll integrations. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain outbound integrations from Workday to external payroll providers across multiple countries, systems, and file formats. You will be part of an HR Technology team and work closely with HRIS, Payroll, and external vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, and audit-ready payroll data integrations.

Location: Stockholm/Linköping
Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as technical lead for the integration stream in payroll-related development initiatives
  • Design, build, test, and maintain payroll integrations using Workday Core Connector: Payroll, Workday Global Payroll Connect, EIBs, and Workday Studio
  • Collaborate with payroll vendors to define technical specifications, exchange test files, and resolve integration issues
  • Transform Workday data into vendor-specific formats and structures
  • Document data mappings, transformation logic, and end-to-end integration flows
  • Manage end-to-end testing activities, including parallel payroll runs and cutover validation
  • Ensure smooth transition to operations through clear documentation and structured handovers
  • Identify and propose improvements to enhance integration reliability, transparency, and performance

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday experience, including at least 2 years delivering payroll integration projects
  • Strong expertise in Workday Core Connector: Payroll, Workday Global Payroll Connect, and custom file-based integrations
  • Experience working directly with external payroll vendors (e.g., ADP, SD Worx, Strada, or similar providers)
  • Solid understanding of payroll fundamentals, including gross-to-net calculations, deductions, and payroll calendars
  • Proven ability to translate business and payroll requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Workday certification in Integrations and/or Payroll
  • Experience working with secure file transfer and encryption protocols (e.g., SFTP, PGP)
  • Experience delivering global or multi-country payroll integrations
