About the Role
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing fixes for the existing data warehouse and supporting in migration to the new Data Warehouse. You will also be part of the new Data Warehouse project and help create new features for it. You'll be working with various business systems and data sources to ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure data processing, supporting business analytics and reporting initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development:
- Maintain and fix automated pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and validating data from diverse sources (e.g., business systems, accounting/ERP platforms, external files, APIs).
- Ensure pipelines are robust, reliable, and can be re-run safely.
- Data Standardization & Transformation:
- Maintain and fix mapping and transformation logic to standardise incoming data for analysis and reporting.
- Maintain and fix version-controlled configuration files to support flexible mapping and onboarding of new data sources.
- Data Processing & Storage:
- Maintain and fix scalable workflows for processing and storing data in a central data warehouse or repository.
- Data Quality Assurance:
- Maintain and fix data validation, error handling, and clear reporting throughout the pipeline.
- Ensure adherence to data security, privacy, and audit requirements.
- Reporting & Output:
- Maintain and fix the generation of standardised reports (e.g., Excel, Power BI, dashboards) for business users.
Required Skills
- 5-8 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT pipeline development using programming languages such as Python (Pandas and Data frames) and PostgreSQL.
- Maintenance and enhancement experience.
- Proven ability to integrate and process data from APIs and file-based sources.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and experience with cloud or on-premise data warehouses.
- Experience in data validation, error handling, and pipeline monitoring in production environments.
- Familiarity with data security, privacy, and compliance best practices.
- Experience managing configuration or mapping files using version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Proficiency in automating report generation (e.g., Excel, CSV).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with business, financial, or operational data.
- Exposure to ERP/accounting or practice management system integrations.
- Familiarity with Excel automation libraries (e.g., openpyxl, pandas, xlsxwriter).
- Experience with data visualisation or dashboarding tools.
- Experience working with international or multi-country data sources.
