Data & AI Engineer

Introduction

At Fractal, we're building a more connected, data-driven organization and we're now looking for a Data & AI Engineer to help lead that journey. This role is positioned centrally in the company where you will strengthen our data foundation and proactively drive AI/BI adoption that supports better decisions across Finance, Sales, Product Development, HR, Operations, and more.

You'll combine hands-on data engineering with a strong business mindset. The role includes building pipelines and models and you'll work closely with stakeholders across functions to identify opportunities, translate needs into scalable solutions, and ensure that insights and AI capabilities are actually used in day-to-day work. About this role

You will join Fractal's IT department and report directly to the IT Director. The role is key to strengthening our data architecture and accelerating AI adoption across the company. You will work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners, building integrations and AI modules that support a growing, global organization and helping to coordinate and deliver smaller cross-functional AI/BI initiatives, from scoping and alignment to implementation and rollout.

In short, this is not a role on the side of the organization. It sits at the heart of how we evolve into a stronger "OneFractal" global setup, enabling smarter ways of working through data and AI.

Among other things, you will:

• Partner with business teams to understand data and process needs and translate them into robust pipelines, datasets, and AI-driven solutions.

• Develop AI-driven modules and applications that make complex data accessible and actionable.

• Build and maintain reliable data pipelines from ERP, PLM, HR and other systems using APIs.

• Structure, transform, and load data into Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse/Data Warehouse.

• Ensure high data quality, consistency, scalability, and reliability across integrations.

• Coordinate smaller AI/BI projects that involve multiple departments, ensuring alignment, progress, and adoption.

• Explore and implement solutions using Copilot Studio and related Microsoft AI tools.

• Prototype new AI use cases together with the IT Director and relevant departments.

• Collaborate with external partners on architecture, standards, and best practices.

• Produce clear documentation and support knowledge transfer across the organization.

To succeed in this role, you:

• Understand REST APIs, JSON, and authentication methods.

• Have strong programming skills in Python and SQL.

• Know data modeling and data-warehouse concepts (Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse is a plus).

• Have a genuine interest in AI technologies (LLMs, Copilot Studio, LangChain or similar).

• Bring experience working with data pipelines and cloud environments.

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Data Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

• Communicate well and enjoy working closely with non-technical stakeholders.

• Can deliver technical solutions that create measurable business value.

• Are fluent in English (spoken and written) and have basic proficiency in Swedish.

Bonus Points If You Have:

Experience working with ERP/PLM data structures (especially Business Central or Windchill), Power BI model awareness, or notebooks in Python/Spark
