About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Hardware Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Electromobility Department, specifically the Electric Motor Drive team. As a key member of this team, you will play a crucial role in developing electrical hardware and electric motor drive systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and expertise to Volvo Group within the competence area of electrical hardware and electric motor drive systems.
  • Contribute to development work with suppliers and technology partners, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and solutions.
  • Lead process planning with a strategic approach, driving efficiency and effectiveness in our product development projects.
  • Participate in and provide process and technical results in product development projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate technical solutions and prepare technical requirements and documents, ensuring compliance with automotive standards and requirements.
  • Collaborate with and conduct test plans, time plans, and support engineers within the team, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Work cross-functionally with both internal and external suppliers, fostering strong relationships and driving collaborative outcomes.
Requirements
  • Master's degree (M.Sc.) or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on involvement in automotive product development.
  • Proficiency in electric product development and design, particularly in electric motor drives and inverters.
  • Familiarity with CAE packages for thermal, CFD, or mechanical simulations.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical experience in assembly, commissioning, and decommissioning processes.
  • Proven expertise in developing technical requirements in collaboration with suppliers.
  • Familiarity with automotive standards, requirements management tools, and process tools.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
