About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Governance Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring that our governance framework is robust and effective, and that we are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on a leadership role and make a significant impact on our organization's governance and compliance culture.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a robust governance framework that ensures compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Providing guidance and support to employees and stakeholders on governance-related matters, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and obligations.
  • Conducting regular reviews and assessments of our governance framework, identifying areas for improvement and recommending changes.
  • Collaborating with divisional Compliance Officers and other Group functions on various governance-related topics, ensuring consistency and alignment across the organization.
  • Providing operational support to Group Center functions and occasionally to divisions, as needed.
  • Assisting in responding to surveys and inquiries from lenders and other key stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, such as law or a related discipline.
  • At least ten years of professional experience, preferably in a governance or compliance role.
  • Several years of prior experience working at a reputable law firm with international reach, with expertise in governance and regulatory affairs.
  • Experience working in an in-house legal or compliance role for an international group of companies, with a strong understanding of global governance regulations.
  • Significant experience working with two or more areas of governance within the scope of this role, with a proven track record of success.
  • A background in governance due diligence and investigations, with expertise in conducting thorough and impartial investigations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities and a talent for influencing others.
  • Able to motivate and influence others, with a strong ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Pays attention to details, with a high level of accuracy and precision.
  • Awareness of internal controls and governance, with a strong understanding of risk management principles.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong English language proficiency is required; additional languages, particularly Swedish, are advantageous.
