About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Platform Architect and Technical Leader to join our team at Wolt. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the company's technology strategy and drive innovation.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of our platform architecture, providing technical direction and leadership to multiple teams, and driving the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of a robust, scalable platform architecture that supports business goals and growth.
  • Provide technical direction and leadership to multiple teams to ensure best software development, deployment, and maintenance practices.
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to improve platform efficiency, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Mentor and guide engineers at various levels, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with Core's engineers and other engineering teams to align platform initiatives with business needs and goals.
  • Ensure the platform's high reliability by advocating for and implementing effective solutions across the engineering organisation.
  • Design, develop, and maintain build and release processes that automate and streamline daily work of engineers.
  • Create systems to assess and enhance the platform's efficiency and maturity.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of platform architecture, design decisions, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
  • Implement and enforce best practices to protect data and maintain the integrity of our platform in alignment with Security Engineers.
  • Data-driven decision-making: Using facts, metrics, and data to guide strategic decisions that align with your goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Hands-on: Jump on implementation topics wherever seniority is needed.

Requirements:

  • +2 years of proven experience as a Staff- or Principal Engineer in large-scale CI/CD tooling.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and designing systems at scale.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in or willingness to learn at least one of the following programming languages: Python3, Go (we primarily use Python and Go in our team).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proactive, data-driven mindset with the ability to drive changes that impact the entire organisation.
  • Experience in supporting large-scale development teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience in build and release domain within +500 microservices and multi-region Kubernetes clusters.

Bonus Requirements:

  • Experience with Bazel, Spinnaker, or other large-scale build and deployment tools.
  • Knowledge of package management, compliance & validations, and metrics.
  • Familiarity with on-call rotations and SOX compliance.
  • Experience with asynchronous event streaming platforms or message queues (e.g., Kafka).

About the Perks:

This role comes with a competitive salary of €120,000 - €180,000 per year, depending on location and experience. The position can be based in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin, or Stockholm, or you can work remotely anywhere in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, and Estonia. We provide relocation support to help you make your way to Finland, Germany, or Sweden.
