We are seeking an experienced AI Systems Designer to join our Project Baxter team in pre-production. This role demands a solid understanding of AI systems and processes, striking the perfect balance between entertainment and challenge for players.

Project Baxter is a 4-player cooperative action game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. We will leverage cutting-edge technology to create immersive gameplay scenarios.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with our Senior AI Designer, driving AI development from concept to implementation. Combat and AI sit at the core of the project, making this a crucial position in defining how the game will be played.

Job Description
  • Design, develop, balance, and oversee various AI systems.
  • Drive core AI systems such as combat, navigation, abilities, tactics, and senses.
  • Work closely with the combat designer, animators, gameplay programmers, and other teams to prototype and implement combat features.
  • Take designs through a full development cycle from concept to release.
  • Define and shape our enemy gallery of different enemy types in collaboration with the combat designer.
  • Use metrics, player feedback, and analytics to improve and refine the design.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience as an AI Designer on 1+ titles, preferably on an action game.
  • Shipped 1+ AAA game where you were heavily involved in AI behaviors or combat.
  • Experience designing AI behaviors for various combat scenarios.
  • Experience with behavior tree development for controlling AI behavior.
  • Familiarity with visual scripting languages (Blueprint, Node Graphs, etc.).
  • Possess a deep understanding of AI and have thoroughly played a wide variety of different titles.
  • Enjoy working with hands-on prototypes, documentation, and brainstorming.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective and productive in collaborating with colleagues.
